Sweet Sisters,
On the heels of celebrating our risen Christ, we are keenly aware of the devastation that residents of our beloved state, Alabama , are seeing and living. The tragedy is indescribable! Here in Huntsville, many of us are inconvenienced with no electricity, limited telephone and cell service, no internet, etc. and now potentially limited water supply while others, i.e. Anderson Hills and other areas of Huntsville, have devastating loss. All around us is tragedy and devastation…Tuscaloosa, Pratt City, Cullman, Tuscaloosa, Pleasant Grove, Guntersville to name a few.
Many have stepped up to help those who are less fortunate. Nationally acclaimed Christian relief teams have joined forces with others to bring aid and relief to the physically, emotionally and spiritually drained people. Many “share their bread with the hungry”, provide clothing for those who are “naked”, crying with those who are crying, pouring themselves out for the hungry and satisfying the desire of the afflicted. (Isaiah 58) We see people with hearts of compassion, exemplifying Christ! They are toiling, caring, sweating, loving, crying, serving because for many the compassion and love of Christ indwell them through the Holy Spirit.
We know we can rest in ALL of our Father’s promises. Even though the tornadoes wreaked havoc not only in the state of Alabama but also in Mississippi, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia the Father has compassion, His love is an everlasting love and His covenant of peace will not be removed. (Isaiah 54:10) Our hope is in Christ and we know that nothing separates us from His love: “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39)
My memory verses:
For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, declares the LORD,
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways
and My thoughts than your thoughts.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways
and My thoughts than your thoughts.
For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth,
making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes out from My mouth; it shall not return to Me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes out from My mouth; it shall not return to Me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
For you shall go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and the hills before you
shall break forth into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. Isaiah 55:8-12 (ESV)

Do it, sisters! Post! Post! Post!
The Father is good and everything He does is good. (Psalm 119:68) “ Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy! He who goes out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him. The LORD has done great things for us; we are glad.” (Psalm 126:5-6, 3)
Post your verse/verses, reference, translation and name!
I love you!

Okay - meditating on scriptures fits me more than memorizing, but I'm trying. Next one...
ReplyDeleteYou make known to me the path of life;
in your presence there is fullness of joy;
at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
– Psalm 16:11 (ESV)
Alright ladies,
ReplyDeleteThe storms have passed; our internet has returned and people are returning to normal. We have all been through something incredible, and scary. However, it was amazing to see people who normal barely nod at each other as they pass in their cars come outside and share grills, food, babysitting services and life. I am almost....may I repeat....ALMOST sorry to see things return to normal. Once you read the verse I have chosen for this next memorization, you'll understand why.
"O, afflicted city, lashed by storms and not comforted. I will rebuild you with stones of turquoise, your foundations with sapphires."
Isaiah 54:11 (NIV)

ReplyDeleteReading these verses blessed me greatly as I realized that each day presents another opportunity to experience God's grace, and that Jesus is "my portion"...the only inheritance I need!
Lammentations 3:22-24 ESV
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
The Lord is my portion," says my soul,
"therefore, I will hope in him."

ReplyDeleteAm staying with the same verses as life has been amazing since the tornadoes.
Romans 8:26-30 26In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but (the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; 27and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. 28And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. 29For those whom He foreknew, He also (I)predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; 30and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.
II Corinthians 1:3-7 3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ. 6But if we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; or if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which is effective in the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer; 7and our hope for you is firmly grounded, knowing that as you are sharers of our sufferings, so also you are sharers of our comfort.
Isaiah 61:1-3 1The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, Because the LORD has anointed me To bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to captives And freedom to prisoners; 2To proclaim the favorable year of the LORD And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, 3To grant those who mourn in Zion, Giving them a garland instead of ashes, The oil of gladness instead of mourning, The mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting So they will be called (K)oaks of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.
I Peter 4:7-11 The end of all things is near; therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer. 8Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins. 9(Be hospitable to one another without complaint. 10As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Phil 2:1-4 1Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. 3Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; 4do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.
