"One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple."

Scripture Memorization #4

Beloved Sisters in Christ!

     You are amazing and so inspiring! Your tenacity and persistence in your pursuit of memorizing and/or meditating on the scriptures that the Father has impressed upon your hearts is so stimulating.  You are such an encouragement to me and I enjoy memorizing scriptures alongside a community of sweet sisters!

     Reflecting over the last two weeks has brought a deep sense of gratitude and excitement to my heart.  We have no clue what tomorrow will bring but we know Who controls tomorrow!  We are intimate with the One Who knows…He is the Ancient of Days, the Alpha and Omega, the only Wise GOD!  “He declares the end from the beginning.”  He says:  “My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose” (Isaiah 46:10)

     The Most High God’s purpose was accomplished indeed!  As we approach the coming days, we consider Palm Sunday… a remembrance of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem as Israel’s king riding on a donkey thus fulfilling prophecy.  The large crowd spread cloaks on the road while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. Loud shouts of “Hosanna in the highest” could be heard. (Matthew 21:1-9)    Passion Sunday as this day is sometimes called is the beginning of Holy Week…the week of Jesus’ walk to the cross where through His crucifixion, death, and resurrection, we, through faith in Christ, have been reconciled to God!  Celebrate!  We get to celebrate!  In giving His Precious blood and life, Christ gives us eternal life, abundant life. (John 10:10)   The Father does what He says He will do!

     The context of the verse selected for memory is an illustration of God’s promises to Noah in the aftermath of the flood (Isaiah 54:9) and His promises to Israel. (Isaiah 54:10)  We all know the story!  God promised Noah that He would never destroy the earth through another great flood.  The sign of that promise is the rainbow.  History has proved that when God says something, we can count on it.  He does follow through!  As one from Abraham’s seed and heir according to the promise (Galatians 3:26-29), I get to embrace Yahweh’s promise.

     “Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you.” (Isaiah 54:10) NIV

     Christ, the Messiah, is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6) bringing with Him the covenant of peace (Ezekiel 37:26).  And, the LORD’s unfailing love and compassion motivates Him. Salvation and peace are two characteristics of God’s kingdom for us, His people!  Am reminded of the song, “I have peace like a river” and my hope, “Christ in me, the hope of glory” (Col 1:27).  He is a covenant keeping God!  Hallelujah!

     So, let’s post it, girlies!  Let us hear from you!

     Proclaim it so the rocks do not cry out!  Post your  verse, reference, translation and name!

I love you,

Olda

  1. Romans 8:26-30 In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but (the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For those whom He foreknew, He also (I)predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.

    II Corinthians 1:3-7 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ. But if we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; or if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which is effective in the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer; and our hope for you is firmly grounded, knowing that as you are sharers of our sufferings, so also you are sharers of our comfort.

    Isaiah 61:1-3 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, Because the LORD has anointed me To bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to captives And freedom to prisoners; To proclaim the favorable year of the LORD And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, To grant those who mourn in Zion, Giving them a garland instead of ashes, The oil of gladness instead of mourning, The mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting So they will be called (K)oaks of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.

    I Peter 4:7-11 The end of all things is near; therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer. Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins. (Be hospitable to one another without complaint. As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

    Phil 2:1-4 Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.

  2. My next verse to meditate on is:

    Don't worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God.

    For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died;
    and He died for all, that they who live should no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf.

  11. The Fulfillment of the Law
    Matthew 5:
    17 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.18 I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.19 Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

  12. Ivey, did you know there is a great song that is exactly that scripture? It's on a CD called Glory Revealed. It might be an easy way help you memorize your verse.

  13. Ladies, I cannot tell you how good this exercise has been for me in this exact season in my life. The Father has lain on my heart the EXACT Scripture He knew I would need to lean on right here, right now. I stand amazed and in awe of His unfathomable love as I get glimpses of how He cares deeply for us as we seek His wonderful face. Last week He whispered to me, "in quietness and trust is your strength" from Isaiah 30:15...over the weekend, He led me back to Psalm 121:1-8 which is my memory Scripture for this round, perhaps into next if I need more time. Here it is:

    I raise my eyes toward the mountains.
    Where will my help come from?
    My help comes from the Lord,
    the Maker of heaven and earth.
    He will not allow your foot to slip;
    your Protector will not slumber.
    Indeed, the Protector of Israel does not
    slumber or sleep.
    The Lord protects you;
    The Lord is a shelter right by your side.
    The sun will not strike you by day,
    Or the moon by night.
    The Lord will protect you from all harm;
    He will protect your life.
    The Lord will protect your coming and going
    both now and forever.
    Psalm 121:1-8 HCSB

    I love you ladies! Have a great week. :)

  16. A voice cries:
    "In the wilderness prepare the way of the LORD; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
    Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough place a plain.
    And the GLORY of the LORD shall he revealed, and all the flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the LORD has spoken."
    Isaiah 40:3-5 (NIV)

    As I read this I thought of our precious Savior and the fact Easter is upon us. A time when we remember and celebrate His sacrifice...Bc without His sacrifice we would have no love, hope or anything to celebrate!!! I love the last line ""for the mouth ofthe LORD has spoken", when I read that I thought of what Jesus said while hanging on the cross, "It is Finished!" For me right now in my life those three words sum it all up...Thank you Father for being AMAZING!!! Blessings my sweet sisters!

  18. Ladies,

    I already typed a whole entry and when I hit POST, it said, "Sorry, unable to post at this time," and I lost my work. So I'm going to try again.

    The latter part of April has gotten completely away from me and I didn't select a verse, but now I have. This past Friday I was blessed to be able to travel to Birmingham with my sons and dear Olda to attend Secret Church. We were thrilled to find seats on the 8th row and I felt so humbled to be in such a large crowd, all hungering for the Word our Father had given David for us. There was a booklet we went through as we followed along and it was full of Scripture. Soon I circled on and told Olda, "THIS is the one I'm going to memorize next!" She nodded and one page over pointed another one out, "That one is really good too!" I agreed and circled it. Within a few hours, I had circled 20 or so Scriptures I wanted to memorize, but in the end went back to my first choice. It speaks to me:

    You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you as the Father in My name, He may give it to you.

    John 15:16 ESV

  19. Fabulous choice! When the Holy Spirit has a Scripture jump off the page and causes your heart to be excited, it is JUST FOR YOU"!

    It was a privilege and delight to be able to share that time together with you and the boys as the Holy Writ was spoken, shared, and taught!

    With an expectant heart and spirit do I anticipate the next Secret Church so we can "do it" again!
