"One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple."

Scripture Memorization #6

Precious girlies!

It is quite amazing how quickly time and life appear to be moving.  We are now preparing to memorize and meditate on our 6th verse/verses.  Can you believe that we are one third of the way through the designated time we have determined to do meditate and memorize together!  Our goal is 31 December 2011.

The last two/three weeks or so have been very challenging for all of us but we cannot quit meditating and memorizing!  You CANNOT quit!  Truths from the Holy Script with which we are saturating our minds and heart is one way to renew our minds daily.  They are truly a source of encouragement, comfort, vitalization, and conviction among so many other wonderful benefits.  So….don’t quit!

Many came together as the Church, the Body of Christ, during the time of the devastation resulting from the tornadoes to love and serve others.  Through our labor of love and service we have testified to others and the world that we are truly Christ’s disciples.  John quotes Jesus in his gospel:  A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." John 13:35, 36   This service you performed is not only supplying for the needs but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.  2 Corinthians 9:12     Precious sisters, it has been noted that the people have come together to serve one another!  Just think!  The splendor, majesty and glory of the King have been displayed!  He is doing a new thing, can you perceive it?  Isaiah 43:19

This weekend starts the celebration, thrill and excitement of high school and college graduation of the young men and women in our lives and those in and around the country.   We applaud them for their diligence and tenacity in reaching their goal.   These young men and women start a new chapter in their lives.  The NEW chapter now includes new faces, new relationships, new teachers, new experiences and so on.

The Father is always about new things in and around us.  May our eyes and hearts be open to see what the Father is doing around us and join Him.  So, “let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together…. but encouraging one another”.   Hebrews 10:24, 25

My heart delights in the Father’s promise when His comfort is exactly what I need. His Presence is always tender and sweet.

"For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: 'I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite'.”  Isaiah 57:15 (ESV)

     Sweet girlies, here goes!
Do it!  Post your verse/verses, reference, translation and name.

I love you,
Olda

Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses , but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace in time of need.

I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

  5. Sisters, I cannot wait to share the testimony of how our Mighty God has used this exercise in my personal life and testimony these past weeks...how He was giving me PRECISELY the verses I would need even before I needed them - you know, the ones He wanted me to stand on as the world I knew crumbled and shifted around me and my mother's heart has been torn to shreds. I will testify, someday. For now, just know that I am awed and praising Him in the storm and know that He does indeed orchestrate the details large and small if we are attuned to His will and His direction. He is good!

Here is this week's memory verse for this girl, who stands in awe of how much He loves her:

IF YOUR LAW HAD NOT BEEN MY DELIGHT,
I WOULD HAVE PERISHED IN MY AFFLICTION.
    Psalm 119:92 ESV

  6. Count it all joy my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have it's full effect, that you maybe perfect and complete lacking in nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given to him. But, let him ask in faith, with no doubting. For the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord, he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. Let the lowly brother boast in his exaltation, and the rich in his humiliation, because like a flower of the grass, he will pass away. For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass, its flowers fall, and its beauty perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in the midst of his pursuits. Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him! James 1:2-12 (ESV) Holly

  7. My Scripture verse this time around is short, but it's something I really need to be focusing on at this time in my life. I find myself growing frustrated at things I can't control - like getting older. I am slightly near sighted (I used to be HUGELY near sighted but had laser surgery a few years ago so I could get up in the night and go to the bathroom without getting lost), but now that I am older I find that I have to take my glasses off just to read. And sometimes even then the print is too small and I have to ask one of the kids to read it for me. Getting older is so maddening!

Today the doctor confirmed something I already knew on some level, but kept avoiding in the hope it would just go away. I can hear my blood rushing through my veins and have had a lingering headache that I recognize from my bed rest pregnancy days. Today, I have to admit accept what I know - like my parents before me, I have developed high blood pressure. I am angry. My parents control their high blood pressure with medication but I have seen how it has to be closely monitored and I don't want to mess with that. I just want to go about my day like I did before - doing what needed to be done without having to stop and quiet down to rest and check my blood pressure. I feel as if my body has failed me in some area. Indeed, I am angry. So, this verse is what I need to memorize for sure:

"Be angry but do not sin. Don't let the sun go down on your anger, and don't give the devil an opportunity." Eph 4:26-27

  8. Isaiah 55:8,9 NAS

For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Neither are your ways My ways," declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

  10. John 17:1-5 (NAS)

Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that your Son may glorify You, with the authority you have given him that He might give eternal life to all those you have given him. And this is eternal life that they may know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
Now Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.
